Stephen Ministry is a ministry at SPL in which trained and supervised lay persons (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life challenges or difficulties.
Stephen Ministers listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional support to people who are facing a crisis or going through tough times. The care you’ll receive is confidential. There is no fee.
Stephen Ministers care for those experiencing challenges such as: loneliness, loss of a spouse, retirement changes, unemployment, discouragement, miscarriage, hospitalization, divorce/grief, terminal illness, questions about God and faith, or other challenges.
A Stephen Minister is:
- Someone who cares
- Someone who supports
- Someone who listens
- Someone who shares
To learn how you, a friend, neighbour, or relative can receive care, talk to Karen Rennie, Director of Community.
If you are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister, the next training will begin in the Fall. Contact Karen Rennie for additional details.
