Last week we invited you into praying with us on Wednesdays, especially during this season of social distancing. Here we are, our first Wednesday of praying together!
Prayer is talking to God. Most of us feel like we’re not very good at praying. Even though we’re designed for it, many of us are out of practice. So be gentle on yourself.
If this is new, aim to pray for ten minutes. If you’ve never prayed before, ten minutes is going to seem like an eternity. Just keep at it.
Start by reading a psalm out loud. That’s praying. (In the prayer and fasting resource we shared last week, we suggested Psalm 118.)
Look for something in the psalm that makes you think about:
- how awesome God is;
- how grateful you are for His kindness;
- how much you need Him; or
- how much the world needs Him.
Speak to our Lord about these things.
And if you are fasting with us this day, let us know how it is going. Even if it doesn’t happen right away, fasting helps sharpen your focus and trim your heart. Maybe you didn’t imagine fasting to be part of being “Together fully alive in Jesus,” but it most surely is.
You can also check out SPL Rhythms for Life. Consider putting it into action. Let’s do this together.
