Prayer Wednesday

October 28, 2020   ·   Leave a Comment

When the LORD brought back the captives of Zion,
We were like people who dreamed.
Our mouths were filled with laughter
Our tongues with songs of joy.

Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”

The LORD has done great things for us,
And we are filled with joy.

Israel was carried away from everything they knew and loved and taken to a place where they didn’t belong and didn’t like. And they were there for a long time. They were there long enough that they doubted they would ever return.

Then it started. Whispers. Rumours. Hope. “We might be going home.” In time, the whispers became reality. It happened. Captives returned home. There was laughter and great joy.

In the middle of calamity, it’s hard to believe that things will ever get better. Sometimes believers doubt whether our LORD hears or even cares. Captive Israel felt like that. And then our LORD acted.

He never abandons us.

You can pray with confidence for yourself and for us this day. You can also pray for the 80 million women and men who this day are away from their homes (Internationally Displaced Persons―IDPs), forced to leave with no certainty of return. Let’s pray for those whose situations are doubly complicated now because of COVID.

Thankfully, our LORD loves the whole world!

Come, Lord Jesus, come.

Believing and praying with you.

Andrew
