The LORD said to my Lord;
“Sit at my right hand
Until I make your enemies
A footstool for your feet.”
Jesus quoted the verse directly to his enemies.
The amazing thing about Jesus is that he didn’t subjugate his enemies. He didn’t put them in a headlock. No humiliation or condemnation. He did as he told us to do and loved his enemies. He made it as possible for them as for us to be saved, to be right with God, to enter an entirely new life.
Today is a good day to pray for our enemies, for people who have hurt us or have it out for us. Here’s a chance for you to turn the tables and pray our Lord’s blessing on those who don’t like you very much (or perhaps, you don’t like so much!).
It’s okay to pray for things you don’t actually want (if we’re honest!) because you know God’s heart is to save that person. “Bless those who persecute you.”
Praying with you today, asking for our Lord’s best for friends and enemies.
