Prayer Wednesday

February 23, 2022   ·   Leave a Comment

Come and see what the LORD has done;
The desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
He burns the shields in the fire.

He says, “Be still and know that I am God;
Will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

The world is a troubling place these days. It’s never been easy on our blue and green planet, but these days seem especially uncertain. The earth seems to be “giving way,” mountains tumble, waters roar and foam, and there are threats of war.

God says, “Be still and know that I am God.” That’s God’s plan. His is a two-fold plan:

#1 Be still. Stop moving. Stop your Google research. Stop recycling your anxiety, stop checking your newsfeeds. Be still. The Hebrew word, Rapha means to be weak, to let go, to release. Put a halt to your plan. How has that been going for you anyway?

#2 Know that He is God. God says that He makes wars cease. God says he is present in the middle of trouble. God says we have no reason to fear. He is God, sovereign overall. He will be exalted among the nations. He will be exalted in the earth.

Today you have two options. You can live anxiously as though the world’s weight is on your shoulders. Or you can be still, know God present, pray, and move through your day with the confidence that Bigger Hands hold this planet.

Praying with you this day.

Andrew
