Prayer Wednesday

March 16, 2022   ·   Leave a Comment

They plot injustice and say,
“We have devised the perfect plan!”
Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.

But God will shoot them with his arrows;
They will suddenly be struck down.
He will turn their own tongues against them
And bring them to ruin;
All who see them will shake their heads in scorn.

All people will fear;
They will proclaim the works of God
And ponder what he has done.

The righteous will rejoice in the LORD
And take refuge in him;
All the upright in heart will glory in him!

These Wednesday prayers and psalms seem like a wild contrast to our Sunday morning texts from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount!

On Sunday we heard: “love your enemies” and today we read, “God will shoot them with his arrows.” Some might see complete disagreement between these two statements but I don’t. I see them as “my job” and “God’s job” in my mind. I’m to pray for and love my enemies and God is the one who hears those prayers and even loves those people more than I do. In addition, God will bring righteousness to rule on planet earth. He will thwart the purposes of evil and selfishness and any persons who want to stay aligned to those evil purposes will find themselves trying to dodge the arrows of God.

The whole reason we can pray with clarity is because God has shown me that there is right and there is wrong. He also assures me that prayers for good and right things are in line with His heart and will. They will be answered. And, in the end, He will undo every wrong and make all things right.

Join me in praying with this confidence today.

Andrew
