Even in darkness light dawns
For the upright,
For those who are gracious and
Compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are
Generous and lend freely,
Who conduct their affairs with justice.
Surely the righteous will never be shaken
They will be remembered forever.
They have no fear of bad news;
Their hearts are steadfast,
Trusting in the LORD.
It is possible even for Christians to get discouraged. We might ask ourselves, “Is this making any difference?”, or “Does it seem like life is just getting harder and harder?”, or “Does this heaviness ever lift?”
You might feel discouraged as you enter into praying today.
The people recorded in the Bible were no strangers to the grind of life. The early people of God knew little about easy living or comfortable times. Slavery, near-endless wandering, corrupt priests, lousy kings—just about every page describes tough times.
Where’s the hope?
Even in the darkness light dawns on the upright. Jesus promises light into whatever you face this day. It’s pretty much guaranteed that something isn’t quite right in your world today; It could even feel quite dark.
Jesus said he is the Light of the World. Invite him into your current darkness. Wait for His brilliance.
Jesus also said that you are the light of the world. During your praying this day, listen to hear if He isn’t inviting you to shine into someone else’s life. This is the way His Kingdom works.
Praying (and shining?) with you this day.
