Prayer Wednesday

I was silent; I would not open my mouth,
For you are the one who has done this.
Remove your scourge from me,
I am overcome by the blow of your hand.
When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin,
You consume them like a moth-
Surely everyone is but a breath…
Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again
Before I depart and am no more.

There are 150 Psalms and almost every one of them finishes hopeful or at least hints at a silver lining. Not this one.

This guy is salty! “I tried to watch my ways;” “I put a muzzle on my mouth;” “While I mediated the fire burned.” He’s not happy. He feels like a pawn in God’s chess game. “The span of my years is as nothing before you.”

He’s ticked, he does not like the way God seems to be doing things and so he…prays.

It may not be today but at some point, you will find yourself where this believer was, angry, bitter, and resentful towards God.

“I deserve better!”
“Have you been watching my life, God?”
“Is this the way you reward your friends?

Whatever it sounds like in your head, say it! Pray it! God has broad shoulders. Stay in the relationship. Keep talking. The worst thing—the WORST thing—in any relationship is silence when one partner goes mute.

Whatever it feels like right now, God does love you and you two will get through even this.

Praying with you today.

Andrew
