Prayer Wednesday

God is our refuge and strength
An ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Though the earth give way
And the mountains fall into the heart of the sea
Though its waters foam
And the mountains quake
With their surging.

We will not fear. It isn’t that we don’t fear because “there is nothing to fear but fear itself.” That’s not accurate. We could fear for our lives, we could fear for our children, we could fear cancer or financial ruin, the list goes on of the troubles we could and do face. Fear would be more than a reasonable response to these troubles, except for those whose lives are lashed to the Living God who is our refuge and strength.

Again, it isn’t that bad or even terrible things won’t happen to us, (they do!) it’s just that He is with us and that renders all troubles temporary and futile to destroy us.

God is with us. Immanuel.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for You are with me.” (Psalm 23)

“Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Jesus)

Are fears nipping at your heels on this day which you’ve committed to prayer? (Sure sounds like something Satan would like to do to you.)

  1. Rebuke the fears directly. “You have no place in my life, I belong to Jesus!”
  2. Declare the truth out loud “The LORD is my refuge and strength!” and then
  3. “Be still and know that HE is God, He will be exalted among the nations.” Rest in his strength, take confidence in his might.

God has the silencer for fear, it’s called the Truth.

Praying with you this day.

Andrew
