WHEN YOU HAVE DIRTY FEET
“Washing one another’s feet” ranks right up there with the other crazy ideas Jesus has for his Kingdom: “Go the extra mile.” “Turn the other cheek,” and “Love your enemies.” Inconceivable. Who would ever think that these ideas would gain traction, especially in a group of young men? The only way it makes sense is if these first disciples experienced love like they’d never known before and they were ready to die for it.

- What do you make of Peter’s antics? What in us doesn’t want to be served? What in us needs to be different from everyone else? Would you call this sin?
- Where might you wash someone’s feet this week?

Jesus’ baptism reveals the true heart of baptism: God’s desire to bless and express His delight. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the start of the Kingdom. Ordinary women and men were now filled with the Spirit of Jesus to continue on the ministry Jesus started.
